Top of the list in Oppenrod Last weekend, the Wildkart Racing Team could convince once more.
Even during the free practice sessions all drivers set the mark with top times and established themselves among the best of each class. After qualifying Mike Halder started in the field of the 22 kart drivers from the fourth position heading into Prefinale. There, he fought his way to the end of the third place in the race. In the final he could defend the podium after thrilling battles for position in the top group. After the second place in qualifying Christian Hillenbrand won his fifth race in the Rotax Senior Championship. With the stage win in his class, he built the lead in the championship.
The smallest person of the team provided the biggest surprise: Michelle Halder won the DMV Championship qualifying and also got the pole position in qualifying for the second KF3 race round the traditional Stefan-Bellof-Cup. In Prefinale Michelle was equally impressive, which she could win 14 seconds ahead of the established top riders. Even in the final round of the championship race, Michelle always could stay in the forefront until two laps from the end, before a rival shouted her out. The chassis had to be repaired quickly because it was still in the deciding run in the Bellof-Cup. Here too, Michelle stood on pole. The same driver who had been eliminated her in the previous race, shouted her out again, back to the end of the field. So there was only the seventh place possible - too bad for Michelle, for this weekend would have all been possible...
We can only hope that the next weekend, in which the three drivers are guest drivers in the ADAC Masters, perhaps fortunately runs.
