Another great success
Wednesday, 01 April 2009
The Rotax European Championship began last weekend on the international circuit of Zuera in Zaragoza, where Wildkart drivers had another good performance. It was Wildkart's official driver Denis Thum who took the podium in DD2 category.

Spain is becoming popular in Karting as it hosted second international Rotax meeting in a row, after the first ever Rotax Winter Cup, being held at Campillos racetrack in the south of Spain in February. The international racetrack Zuera, located in Zaragoza, was the scene of the first race of the Rotax Euro Challenge, which is the championship of Europe Rotax. The incredible Zuera track, which is more like a large circuit with the number of curves, showed a great performance in all three categories to be gathered. Junior, the Max (Max and Max split into Master, reserved for riders older than 32 years) and DD2. In total, some 150 participants from 38 countries.

Among younger drivers, the Junior, the absolute dominator of the Max Senior race was Josh Webster, who despite not marking the best time trials in any of the final two races, had a very steady pace, worthy of praise, which earned him the victory.

Lastly, the DD2, the most spectacular and rapid category in the Rotax, the South African Ralph Odendaal had no rival in the prefinal imposed in the final at the controls of the Intrepid. Only Wildkart's official driver Denis Thum could face his pace. In the prefinal, Thum was serious threat to Odendaal, less than two tenths behind the victory, although in the final race distance between the two pilots was greater than three seconds. This was another great success for the German who is aiming for the European title this year.

The next test of the Rotax Euro Challenge will be held at the Italian circuit Kart Planet in Busca (Cuone), between 27 and 31 May.
